Skittles manicure for Make Up Store Lava

Hy everyone! :) I know I said I’m gonna make some stampings with my brand new Kand plate and I will, don’t worry. :) It’s just that I had to test something else before that, because skittles manicure is not really work appropriate, and Kand stamping is, I chose to do skittles first.

When I was in Sweden in August, as usual on any trips, I wanted to get a nail polish souvenir. It means more to me than buying a picture or an object representing local sights and then just collects dust in my room. I take personal pictures of local sights on my own anyway and more importantly, I carry the memories with me all the time. The problem was, Sweden is so darn expensive. Nevertheless, I couldn’t resist buying a beautiful polish by Make Up Store named Lava, especially since it was on the rack of 50% off – it “only” cost me 60 Swedish Crowns (that was 7,29€). For someone that is used to buying low budget polishes that is a lot – but it was well worth it! :) (I have to add, I’ve been to Sweden before and I bought a polish from Make Up Store before, but it was the time when I was in a black polish phase, and now I can’t believe I spent more than 14€ on a black polish with silver shimmer that is as ordinary as any other polish of that color… – true, I wasn’t buying polishes as often as I do now.)

Enough talking, check out the Lava!

WOW!

IMG_5759

Ah, the beauty! :)) I decided to make a skittles manicure to see which colors go best with it!

My right hand:

The polishes I used from pinky to thumb are:

  • Manhattan quick dry 1010N (black creme)
  • Pupa M165 (silver foil)
  • Giordani Gold Crimson (jelly red)
  • S-he stylezone 330 (brown creme)
  • Catrice Coolibri LE C05 Virgin Forest (shimmery bright green)

My left hand:

The polishes I used from thumb to pinky are:

  • Essence Twins 07 Chuck (blue creme)
  • Essence Twins 08 Gabriella (purple creme with blue shimmer)
  • Essence Twins 06 Bella (teal creme)
  • Maybelline Mini Colorama 105 Urban orange (orange with golden shimmer)
  • Maybelline Mini Colorama 100 Urban lemon (creme yellow)

And here are the photos of the result!

I particularly like the effect it has on brown, green, teal, purple and blue! :)

What do you think, do you like flakies?

Kand nail stamping image plate CK-04 review

Hello! I finally have time to write a new post on my blog! :))) I’m so happy about that, because I’ve got something great to show to you ;)

As you know from my previous post, I got contacted by Born Pretty store, an internet nail art retailer. They’ve asked me to review a product for them so they sent me what I longed for for some time now – a Kand nail stamping image plate CK-04! It only took 10 days for the package to arrive to Slovenia!

IMG_5740

Other than a bump in the corner the plate was intact and was protected by a blue plastic film which had to be taken off before you could use it:

IMG_5743

And here’s what it looks like:

IMG_5744

I’m sorry, but I had to take the photo at an angle, otherwise the plate would mirror my camera ;)

After I peeled off the blue film it was time to try it out! :) I only had a short amount of time to do it, so I chose to stamp all the designs on a piece of paper and here you can see what they look like:

IMG_5748

I’m so happy I have this, I had no trouble using it except for the very first pattern which has finer lines, but I handled that one as well. The plate is nicely engraved and I can’t wait to use it on my nails (by the way – I find it much easier to stamp designs on nails than on paper for the surface of the nail is much smaller and on paper every bit of excess polish gets shown if you are not careful ;)).

There is one important thing about these Kand plates that the blogger community keeps talking about – the size of these designs. Yes, they are small, but my nails are small and quite short most of the time, I don’t think I’ll have any problems with the size (ok, maybe I’ll have to stamp my thumb nail twice). I only remembered to take a photo of the patterns next to a ruler after I started writing the post ;) so here it is:

NOTD: Essence Unexpected galaxy & Cotton candy mummy tape mani

Hy to all! :)

Today’s manicure is all about the new Essence Colour and change polish number 04 Unexpected galaxy. I’ve seen swatches with added top coat, but I wanted to do something different. I wanted glitter on it too! :)

I chose to use clear top coat on some fingers and Essence Circus Circus 04 Cotton candy pink glitter on others. I followed the Nailside’s tutorial on mummy tape mani (click), and here are the photos!

IMG_5678

The Cotton candy glittery polish on violet base color turned out purplish with pink glitter which I like. :)

I actually started doing my right hand first. After trying and ruining two nails with an ordinary tape (the base color stuck to it a bit when I took the tape off) I used a different tape, the one you get in pharmacies as a bandage, and it worked beautifully. Here is my right hand (and on the second photo you can see the peeled off polish on my last two fingers – I left it the way it was because it is not that noticeable in real life and I really didn’t want to do it all over again):

IMG_5679

IMG_5691

I don’t know if you can see, I played with colors on the left and the right hand (left has mainly clear top coat, only the ring finger has pink, and the right hand has the opposite):

Just some more photos with flash :) :

Overall I really like the color of this Galaxy polish and I really like the contrast between the shades it gives with top coat, plus it is a one coater. What I don’t like is that it is quite thick in my opinion, and it dries for quite some time. I know that this mani is not perfect, but I am pleased with it, I wanted to play with polishes and I did. ^ ^ That’s what mattered to me the most today, to just enjoy in polishes. :)

Do you own any of these new “colour and change” polishes? Have you tried anything similar?

NOTD – Catrice Coolibri C05 Virgin Forest + stickers + S-he stylezone 235 tape mani

Hy! Today I have something new to show, I’ve never done a tape manicure before and I decided to give it a try. Two days ago I painted my nails with a green Catrice Coolibri polish “C05 Virgin Forest”, I mattified my ring finger nails with Essence Soft touch top coat and then put some cheap nail stickers on that I bought in KIK (I used one pink and one brown flower). Here are the stickers, I used the ones on the left:

IMG_5442

And here are my nails (the photos were taken indoors):

IMG_5444

 IMG_5447

I didn’t like the way the edge of the sticker was showing. I had a dilemma, should I put another layer of top coat on (and which one, glossy or matte?) to hide the edges or just leave it as it is… I tried putting another layer of Soft touch on my right hand ring finger…

IMG_5452

…but as it made such a little difference, I left my left hand the way it was. Later on I smoothed the edges of a sticker a bit and it is better, it doesn’t show as much as on the photos above – you’ll see later on.

The tips of my nails wore off very soon but as I didn’t want to take the green off just yet, I tried to hide that with a violet S-he stylezone polish number 235 and a tape manicure two days later :) For the top coat I used Essence Better than gel nails top sealer, it is my go to top polish at the moment.

Here’s how it all looks like in the end, one photo taken indoors and one in the sun:

I love the crisp lines the tape helps you get, I’m sure I’ll make some more tape manis in the future! How do you like it?

NOTD: Aura She Bunny 028 + 137

Hy all! :) It’s time for the polishes from my last post’s sneak peak! I’ve been to Macedonia this weekend and of course I wanted a souvenir – some polish that I can’t buy in Slovenia. Sadly was the drugstore closed, but I’ve found just a few polishes in a tiny shop in the city center. I’ve bought two polishes from Serbian company Aura called She Bunny for 60 MKD each, which is around or less than 1€ – very cheap. Years ago while I was in Belgrade I bought one Aura polish, but was not pleased with it, so I was a bit skeptical about these.

She bunny haul

…but the blue one seemed sooooo beautiful! Finally I took time and put it on, and then I couldn’t stop looking at my nails, this color is amazing! The formula is not bad at all, it dried in a reasonable amount of time, the only thing I disliked is the brush, it is way too small and it was a bit hard to put the polish on evenly. It reminds me of Grumpy from the Essence Snow white TE, only it’s a bit lighter – but just as bright on the nails. I had a hard time capturing the right color with my camera again… :( I decided to fiddle with the photos or else the color would be completely off, I apologize for that, but it’s the best I can do…

IMG_5382IMG_5389 IMG_5392

After that I decided to put the other polish number 137 on my accent finger. This polish is iridescent, it is silver based with pink pigment that is shown at an angle and with black and silver glitter.

IMG_5411 IMG_5431 IMG_5441

I am so pleased with my souvenirs! :)))) I’ve read on some blogs, that the shade of the number 028 is available in bigger bottles as well, but in a different edition of Aura polishes – VIP. I bet the brush is better on that one, maybe one day I’ll find out… thanks for reading! :)

Mashup #2

Hy, I’m back! :) I was on holidays and I had a little time off from my computer. But of course I couldn’t resist painting my nails, this is why I decided to put some of my vacations’ manicures in one post so that I don’t bore you with too much photos :)

It is summer, and summer means bright colors, so I finally got the courage to paint my (toe) nails with an acid green Ruby kisses polish “RNP129 Green tomatoes”:

IMG_4910

I’m not usually bold enough to wear a color like this, but it IS summer and I got away with it! I loooooove this green! Later on I put a Depend pink crackle polish on, but I have no photo of it. I really like the way Depend crackle polishes crackle :)

The second manicure I have for you is with a polish you probably all know of, a slightly holographic violet Catrice Dirty Berry. I’ve had it for some time now, but never really felt like wearing it much even though I always loved the holographic part of it. Of course when I applied it I loved it on my nails, I guess the time for it had to be right! :)

IMG_5033

Next on is again something I resisted wearing before, mostly because I had no faith that the formula is any good (the prejudice because of the cheap price). I gave in and tried it because I was really craving for another really bright color, and again, I fell in love with it! This is a Miss sporty 7 days number 380, a pink polish with tiny violet shimmer, I know that it is probably not available anymore, but maybe you can still find it somewhere… here it is:

IMG_5074

In the pictures I see that there are visible brush strokes, but I didn’t see them at the time I was wearing it – maybe I was too astounded with the color, especially seeing it in the sun… There are no visible brush strokes on pictures that were taken off direct sunshine though. The polish dried really fast, and one thick coat would be enough for it to be opaque (but as always, I put two).

While me and my boyfriend were having a stroll down Zadar’s beach, he took the most beautiful photo and I didn’t even know that at the time:

IMG_5158

…. :)))))) <3 …a dose of insulin needed indeed, sorry! ;)

So as we were in Zadar, I had to check their drugstores of course… and just about a week before I went there, I was thinking about how could I franken something to get a polish that is no longer available, for it was a part of a last year’s TE (at that time I wasn’t yet paying as much attention to colorful nail polishes). I walked into the Kozmo drugstore and behold, an Essence Blossoms TE! I can’t believe I got my hands on this beauty!!

IMG_5192

It is mine, all mine!! :)))))))) And I got a lot of positive comments on my nails while wearing this polish ^ ^ I don’t know how come this is still sold there, and in DM I saw a stand of last year’s Essence Holografics TE! o.O But hey, why not if they still have it, bring it on! :)

This concludes my mashup #2 post, I’ll just put in a little sneak peak of what I bought recently in Macedonia and am amazed by the quality of the polishes given the price was a little less or about 1€:

….more on these some other time, thank you for reading! :)
