NOTD: Hard Candy for Fuchsia Glamour

I know a lot of polish addicts are really into indie polishes with matte glitters, I am only beginning to like them. That said I was surprised when in USA I couldn’t resist buying a top coat polish from Hard Candy called 651 Black The Optional. Matte glitter in (or on top of) cream finish polishes were always “blah” to me, I wasn’t interested, it seemed too dull. Well I guess taste changes through time =) I had to have this one! When I came back to Slovenia the L’Oreal stands surprised me with a very similar version of this one, the famous “Confettis”. Well this one is a little bit different and I like it better ^ ^ I accented my ring finger and my thumb on the existent manicure I showed in the previous post and here is the result:

The easiest way to get this glitter on the nail is to blotch it on, I did have to fish it out a bit. The Confettis polish doesn’t contain these small sticks that’s why I think my polish is better. =P It is true though that some of them were sticking out from the surface and annoyed me so I pulled them off, thankfully with no harm done to the manicure =) What do you think? =)

NOTD: NYC 148 Fuchsia Glamour

Today I’ll show you another one of my polishes from USA. I’m not sure about the price anymore but I know this one was ridiculously cheap, about 1$. I knew I wouldn’t have time to do my manicure during the week so I chose this one because it’s work appropriate. The weather conditions were bad for taking photos but I’ve managed to catch some sunrays in between =) Here are the photos, you can see some were taken when the sun was out and some when it hid behind the clouds:

The polish is very sheer so I painted it in three layers, but I suspected it was going to be like that beforehand. I got a bubble here and there because of the layers but nothing horrible. I had to apply it carefully to nicely even it out as it is usually the deal with these kind of milky colored polishes, but I had no bigger problems with that either. What surprised me was the durability of this one, today (Sunday – I’m scheduling this post =P) it’s the eighth day I’m wearing it and even the tip wear is minimal to nonexistent! (I do plan to finally change my manicure today though =D) Later on I upgraded this manicure which I’ll show in the next post… =) Thanks for checking it out! =)

NOTD: Sinful Colors 113 Dream On + 1164 Star Dust

It’s weekend again and I haven’t changed my manicure in a week, let alone wrote anything for my blog. Even the weekend is busy for me (even though I haven’t gotten to all of my duties yet), but I really wanted to begin showing you the goodies I bought in March in USA. First to show are two Sinful Color polishes, I love Sinful Colors, they cost 2$ per bottle (something like Essence here) and are sooooo pretty… What I don’t like is that there is no notation on the bottle what the finish is like, I had no idea I bought a matte polish (I would like to have more of those, but you can’t know which one is which in the store). A friend of mine for example bought a pink matte polish (which I bought later as well, not really knowing it’s the same one, I forgot to ask about the name) with the name “Cream Pink”??

My camera had it’s own ideas about the colors it took again. First I tried to correct the photos but either the color was still off or the photo became too distorted. That’s why I chose to show you the photos as they are, and show you what the color is really like just on one finger.

The 113 Dream On polish is a purple matte polish which dries very fast so you have to work quickly. The application was a bit problematic because of that, it was a bit hard to level it out. It could be used in one layer but I had to use two. It’s also advisable to buff your nails prior to applying this polish because every bump is shown with it. But the color and finish are so nice! =) After it was on I applied the beautiful glittery 1164 Star Dust to my accented nail. =)

Just to show you what the real color of the Dream On polish is like, here’s the photo with photo shopped pinky:

Even though I bought so many polishes in USA now I wish I bought more… =PPP Yup, I’m Colorful Harmony and I’m an addict!

N.NAIL Cool Galaxy Diamond Hidden Nail Foil review

Last month I was contacted by KKCenterHK online shop and they asked me if I would be willing to test one of their products. I agreed, so they sent me a beautiful nail foil including nail glue to try out. It’s called N.NAIL Cool Galaxy Diamond Hidden Nail Foil [NNAIL-E05] and you can find it HERE

I’ve cut a small piece of the foil, about 3 centimeters (1,2 inches) wide, to work with on one hand. I followed the instructions from the website: I applied nail glue on my nails, waited until it became transparent and then pressed and rubbed the foil on my nails (I rubbed it with a cotton swab, I’ve seen it done this way, I don’t know whether this is the only way to do it, probably not). The foil adhered to the glue and separated in a way that the color transferred and I got left with the clear see-through leftover foil. I was a little bit concerned what would it look like since the foil is 2D and my nails are quite curved, transfer 2D to 3D and you can end up with lots of wrinkles… anyway, I guess you get skilled with practice, but I was quite pleased with the result:

I played with the leftovers from my small piece of foil on my thumb just to see what it would look like to have a scrambled pattern. Here’s what I’ve learned: you can use your leftovers, but be careful not to press the clear part of the foil to the glue – it sticks to it and by pulling it off you end up removing the glue as well =/ I had to reapply it on some areas. I also tested three different topcoats on my thumb only, just to see how they react to it – one crumbled it a little bit, there were differences in glossiness but none of those three cracked it as I’ve heard some top coats might. In my opinion the best result was when I used Essence Studio Nails Allround Talent polish whereas Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer made it look duller and Manhattan Pro Care Nail Repair polish crumbled it. I suggest trying different ones you own to see which one works the best. I also noticed that you have to apply it without too much dragging the brush across the nail for the brush started to pick up color from the foil.

I was planning on taking photos of the manicure without the top coat on the next day in daylight since again I’ve done this at night. Before going to bed I took a shower and to my horror I’ve noticed the water ruined my manicure. The thumb protected by topcoat was intact though. ABSOLUTELY USE THE TOP COAT! I used it then immediately to save what was left to save, after putting top coat on the foil stayed sealed. Here are the photos taken on the next day in daylight… =(

IMG_8159
From afar it was not as noticeable, but it was not at all as pretty as before…

IMG_8160
And one close-up:

IMG_8161
It removes very easily with polish remover, you can correct any application mistakes with a brush and remover just as a regular polish. I know I’ll have a great time using this again and again because it is so pretty! You live and you learn and practice makes perfect, I’ve learned a lot by trying it in the first place, I can’t wait to experiment more with it! =)

Have you tried any foils yourself? Do you like it?

Misslyn Velvet Diamond 85

Ahhh, I’ve been neglecting my blog so much… I’m sorry, but I guess my lifestyle now is completely different from the one I had one year ago. In the last month I was so busy I actually wore bare nails several times… and lately when I do my manicure, I’m having trouble with bubbles forming, it sucks =//

Today I will show you what I’ve promised to show some weeks ago (how time flies!). I love these new Misslyn Velvet Diamonds polishes, so far I’ve bought 5 shades =P The first one I wore though was the royal blue one, number 85. The application was simple to my surprise, I was expecting a thick formula and it’s not, plus it dries quickly too. The polish lasted on me for days, it only slightly wore off on my tips. Here are the photos (again, after wearing the polish for days, since I had no time at all to take fresher photos), first one in the shade:

…and in the sun:

IMG_7975

I’ve posted this last one to show you how this polish sparkles in the sun even though it’s matte and gritty. =) Don’t you just love this? =)) But wait! I was about to change my manicure and I wondered what it would look like with a clear glossy top coat on. As I expected it was very top coat thirsty, it needed two thick coats to be smooth, but oh my god it took my breath away! Again, the first photo was taken in the shade:

The ultimate beauty was shown in the sun:

Again, sorry for the tip wear, but are you as mad about this one as I am? =))

USA haul #2 – I’m back! ;)

I can’t believe it’s been more than a month since I’ve last posted, how time flies! Meanwhile I got my wish come true, I went to USA for almost two weeks on a business trip and luckily we’ve had some spare time to go around sightseeing and shopping =)) I’ve got a smart phone now so I finally created an Instagram account (username ColorfulHarmony) but I haven’t actually tried taking a picture yet…

Anyway, I was amazed to see Sephora in NYC, they did my make up and I bought two quite expensive products because I liked them on me a lot, a Stila primer and a Make Up For Ever liquid foundation. Then I hit every drug store I had time to go to and boy did I have stuff to see and to buy!! =)))))) My friends of course teased me but I don’t care ;)) Here is a picture heavy post of my second USA haul! ;)

Here are some Elf, Wet’n’Wild and Hard Candy stuff:

IMG_7806

I forgot to include my new Covergirl mascara, I took this photo before I opened it:

IMG_7788
Some more Elf =) I bought the first Chap Stick (Cherry) on a gas station and I loved it immediately so I bought some more at the mall… I loved the Q-tips packaging so that had to be mine as well =P

IMG_7807
Here are the Sephora goods and some other make up… btw, everything is cheaper there, the Revlon lip butter cost me 6,5$ which is what, 5€? Here in Slovenia it’s around 10€…

IMG_7808

Aaaaand here are the polishes =)) The first ones I bought in Forever 21 store =)))

IMG_7809
OPI polishes cost 8,5$ which is somewhere 6,5€, here they cost 13€ per bottle!!! I finally indulged in Liquid sand OPI without feeling guilty… ^ ^ Nicole by OPI was cheaper, 6,5$.

IMG_7810

Pure Ice beauties and Mattése Elite polishes:

IMG_7812

I finally got some regular H&M polishes =)

IMG_7814

Sinful Colors!! <3 Love love love love them!

IMG_7815
…some of these…

IMG_7816
…and some more polishes… I know, I’ve got a problem…

IMG_7817
My first China Glaze polishes! =))

IMG_7818
And how could I say no to something like this!! Check this out!!

IMG_7820

IMG_7821
I tried it on my nail wheel but it actually doesn’t impress as much when it’s applied, it’s matte duller (not that neon) green with glitter (maybe you have to use up one color at a time?), the smell is nice at first but then it’s like smelling a perfume gone bad, it has an additional “gonebad” smell… I don’t know, I’ll have to try it for real I guess, the bottle looks amazing though =)

I bought some of the products in pairs for an eventual giveaway and I might give away some of my stuff as well, in the end I see that it all might be a little bit too much for me… =P First I have to learn how to do it with the Rafflecopter and that, I’m not there yet… ;)

All in all I loved the experience of USA, loved the sightseeing and shopping, but it’s true it’s always nice to come back home – I do hope to go back one day soon though… ;)

Hope you liked this post, be sure to see some of this stuff in my upcoming manicures! =)
